Matthew 2:11 They bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.
Dear Jesus, what joy filled the hearts of the Wise Men! Distance, greed, and other obstacles didn’t hinder them from bringing their finest gifts and worshipping you. That same joy fills my heart. Yet their worship puts mine to shame. They gave their best. Often I don’t. I make excuses why I can’t serve you and why I can’t give you my finest offerings. At times my worship isn’t really worship at all because it’s motivated by guilt, not joy. Forgive me. Fill my heart with the joy that you, my Savior, died to forgive me. May that joy move me each day to worship you like the Wise Men always giving you my best. In your name, amen.
