Hebrews 12:2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross…
Dear Jesus, I look at others and sometimes think to myself, “I’m not as good or as talented as they are.” Or I think, “Wish I were him!” But in all this I’m failing to see where I find my true identity. It’s not defined by what I do. It’s defined by what you did for me. You went to the cross for me crying out, “It is finished!” Nothing more needs to be done. You’ve paid the price for my sins. I’m fully and freely forgiven. I’m your dear child. Who I am isn’t defined by my life, but by yours. Help me keep this in mind so that as I fix my eyes on you, my service to you is not guilt-driven, but is grace-driven. In your name I pray. Amen.
