2 Peter 2:7

2 Peter 2:7 “…if he rescued Lot, a righteous man…”

O Lord, how could Lot be a righteous man? A quick read of Genesis 19 shows he was anything but righteous. To say the least, Lot was a pervert, a drunkard, and even worse. Yet Lot is called “a righteous man”? Yes, Lot’s life shows that my righteousness doesn’t come from within, for nothing good lives in me. It isn’t based on me – my character, integrity, personality, or the view others have of me. These are all flawed. Rather Lot was righteous through faith in Christ. So am I. For despite all my maladies, through faith I receive Christ’s righteousness and perfection. May this truth bring me great satisfaction this day and every day. Amen.
