Isaiah 53:6

Isaiah 53:6 We all like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

First of all, Lord, I need to confess that I’m one of those sheep.  I’ve strayed so many times and deserve your condemnation.  But so often I can’t get past this, and so I wallow in my guilt.  Please, please, help me wallow no more.  For as great as my sins are, your grace is greater, for “God reigns” (52:7).  For Jesus was pierced for my transgressions.  He was crushed for my iniquity.  The punishment that brought me peace was upon him.  By his wounds I am healed (v. 5)… Not partially, not most of me, but all of me.  I have been forgiven.  Done deal!  For “It is finished.”  So, Lord, when I begin to wallow in my guilt, strongly turn me to these truths that I live today, not in doom and gloom, but in joy and peace, rejoicing that I am a holy and redeemed child of God, bought by the blood of Jesus Christ.  Amen.
