1 Peter 2:9b-12

1 Peter 2:9b-12 …that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.  Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

O Lord, you made me so special calling me out of the darkness of unbelief into your wonderful light.  Your light has opened my eyes to a whole new world filled with hope and promise, love and forgiveness, joy and peace – all found through Christ.  I want others to see that in the way I live my life.  Yet that doesn’t always happen.  Too often I live like this world getting caught up in its sinful thoughts and ways.  Forgive me for Jesus’ sake.  Remind me again of your world in which I live by your grace. Help me today live as the light of the world and the salt of the earth that others may my good deeds and glorify you on the day you return.  I pray this in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
