Colossians 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.
In you, O Christ, I have the peace of forgiveness! You, O King, are in control of all things! At the same time, I realize that the deceptions of this world are subtle, Lord Jesus. “What’s the big deal? It doesn’t really matter,” I say to myself. Yet the very things I don’t think are a big deal are just that. Sin and temptations don’t always come pounding on my front door. Doubt and deception often wiggle their way into my heart through unknown or unattended openings. Forgive me. Forgive me when my conscience grows dull and I give in to subtle deception. All this shows the importance of studying your Word. So help me defend myself by being “rooted and built up in [you],” and “strengthened in the faith” (Colossians 2:7). In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
