2 Timothy 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.
Heavenly Father, I often pray for these very things: confidence (rather than timidity), power, love, and self-discipline. I pray for these things especially when I’m feeling weak, vulnerable, or challenged. Yet this passage casts a whole new light on my prayer. For it isn’t as though I don’t possess these things. I already do. You say it right there in your Word. Wow! So now when I pray for these things, help me remember that I already have them. For you have given me a spirit of confidence, power, love, and self-discipline. Because of that, I’m excited about the challenges I will face today and this week as I see your power and strength at work in me and through me (in spite of me). God be praised! Amen.
