I Chronicles 11:41 Uriah the Hittite
O Father, I imagine that after he murdered Uriah (2 Sam. 11-12), every time King David heard his name he felt regret. Like David I have past sins I can’t forget, sins that conjure of feelings of regret and guilt. Yet this is completely unnecessary. For you sent your Son to take away my sins. You say, “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more” (Jer. 31:34). I don’t hold my sins against me, because you don’t hold them against me! As Satan tries to lead me to despair over past sins, lead me to say, “You fool! You were there! Even you know I’ve been forgiven for all my sins!” And then give my heart peace, peace that comes from knowing I have been pardoned for my sins in Christ. Amen.
