Daniel 1:8

Daniel 1:8 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.

O Lord, help me be obedient to your will. Daniel could have made what seemed to be legitimate excuses for eating the defiled food. But he didn’t. He followed your will – not his own or that of man. Lord, there’s always the temptation to justify my sins or make excuses for my sinful actions. But no matter what the reasons they aren’t legitimate. Before You, sin is intolerable. So forgive me, forgive me for making excuses and trying to justify myself. You have justified me through Christ! Lifted up with your promise of forgiveness give me the strength to be obedient to your will no matter what the cost. Amen.
