Acts 12:1,2,3,6 King Herod… had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword. When he saw that this pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also… The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance.
O Holy Spirit, I marvel at the faith you gave Peter who was sound asleep the night before he was to go on trial and possibly be put to death. If I were in that situation, how would I have reacted? Would I have been up all night worrying and wondering what would happen to me? What are the things that make me worry and wonder? You instilled in Peter a faith that simply trusted you would take care of him. Give me that same faith that trusts that Christ took care of the payment for my sins on the cross and is confident that you will take care of all my other problems. Grant me a faith that is worry-free. In Jesus name. Amen.
