Psalm 20:7-8

Psalm 20:7-8 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

O LORD, my God, I live in a world where human wisdom reigns supreme; it believes “I can accomplish anything I put my mind to; I’m strong enough to control my own destiny.” This thinking pollutes my mind, too. I sometimes think I know what’s best for me (not you), that I am in control (not you), that I can solve my own problems (not you). When I do this I’m putting my trust “in chariots and…horses,” things that will fail. Forgive me for this. You, alone are my strength and my salvation. You never fail me. Therefore lead me to rely on you for strength, wisdom and security that I turn everything over to you. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
