Ephesians 4:15

Ephesians 4:15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.

There are times, O Christ, when I convince myself that I’m speaking the hard truth to someone purely out of love for them. Yet as I look back, I can see there are times when I wasn’t as much motivated by love as I was by my own sinful feelings of anger, pride, and resentment. Forgive me for this lovelessness and selfishness. Yes, it’s important to speak the truth, but when I speak the truth that sometimes hurts, may I always do it with humility, compassion, and sincere love with every intention of building others up, not tearing them down. Help me do this. In your loving name I pray. Amen.
